During most of the time I lived in Buenos Aires, I regularly visited Uruguay, that beautiful country on the eastern bank, plenty of lovely people. I found the love of my life on a ship during one of these trips, and it was love at firs sight and for ever, like in the movies. For some unknown reason, in that tangle of beautiful things which that country has always brought to me, the weather was always perfect when I was in Uruguay. On that permanent confirmation I finally reformulated the peronist-lefty, argentine commonplace about the "peronist day", used to refer the sunny and clear days. In my history these days are marked as "Uruguayan days", and I spontaneously call them so, when I look out through the window just after leaving the bed, still naked, and find out that the sky is blue and the sun shines, tinging everything with that golden aura that usually floods the mornings, and makes the world seem unreally beautiful. I'm feeling longing for Joe, Bárbara, Oscar, Juan. I'm feeling longing for Uruguay.
